Connecting Dots
I've always believed that the best ideas come from connecting dots that don't obviously belong together.
A conversation with a Shopify merchant leads to an insight about AI. A chat with a first-time founder reveals a pattern I saw three companies ago. A random Substack post sparks an idea that becomes a feature.
Why this blog exists
I wanted a place to think out loud. My newsletter is great for polished thoughts, but sometimes I want to share something rougher — a half-formed idea, a lesson from a mistake, a quick reflection on something I read.
This blog is that place.
What I'll write about
A few things I keep coming back to:
- Building with AI — what we're learning at Angle about making AI actually useful for commerce
- Founder lessons — patterns I see across the companies we back at y0
- The craft of building — product decisions, technical tradeoffs, design choices
- Life in Canada — building a tech company from Toronto, not the Bay Area
How I think about writing
I don't optimize for clicks or SEO. I write because it helps me think. If something I write helps you think too, that's a bonus.
The best writing is just thinking, made visible.
I try to keep things short. If I can say it in three paragraphs, I won't stretch it to ten.
What's next
I'm working on a few posts about what we've learned building Angle — specifically about how AI sales assistants need to understand context, not just products. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, you can find me on X or subscribe to my newsletter.
Thanks for reading.
